Sharing your loft

So you are a female artist who makes a living from your art. Like typical artists your age, you maintain your own loft in downtown Manhattan. Life is good. You have a relatively large space with partitions not very common in loft spaces. You are lucky to have a place with two bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a work room, a kitchen, a bath and – hold your breath – a view deck!

But it can be lonely sometimes. You have a cocker spaniel alright, but alas, the dog may listen to your rants but can never share its own thoughts. You know it. You want company. Hence you post an ad in the papers: Wanted: Female loft mate. But wait, do you think it is the best idea to get one? You may lose part of your privacy. Also, what if you and your loft mate don’t click?

Decide carefully. Examine yourself if you are really ready to open your loft to another person. Because if not, you will regret the day you published that Help Wanted ad in the newspapers. Hence if you are the type of person who values privacy above companionship, better be alone than sorry. After all, if it’s company you need, you can always call friends to come over and be your companion in those times that you long for one.
