The Spenard Renaissance
One of Anchorage’s most infamous and troubled neighborhoods is gaining a second lease on life.
Many are dubbing it the “Spenard Renaissance.” Residents have seen new lofts go up in the community along with restaurants and boutiques. In fact, small businesses say Spenard has become the place to be in Anchorage these days.
REI, La Mex and Chilkoot Charlie’s are among the longtime landmarks bringing business to the neighborhood for years. But new spots are rehabilitating Spenard and giving it a much-welcomed facelift.
Loft living is now a reality in the community at the intersection of 26th Avenue and Spenard Road. It’s a first here.
