Lofts – Ideal for Green Solar Power

//"solarpanel"Being small by nature and with all the open spaces, lofts are ideal for conversion to solar or wind power making them mean green living areas. Much of the openness of the modern loft and the split-level design is also good for wide open windows, with proper privacy screens that is for vanity’s sake. They also allow you to save big on cooling and heating, bouncing the harmful rays of the sun back to the exterior of the home and the cool/warm air inside the home. A properly installed and prepped window in the ceiling lets more light in, even on overcast days making life a bit easier. Solar panels can be installed on the roof, enough to power the needs of the whole living space, leaving the most power hungry appliances to the grid if it cannot provide enough juice. How much solar panels can your roof handle depends on the overall area, and to get the amount of electricity you need, you simply get the wattage of each and every home appliance you wish to power(with small roofs, you might get some but surely not allon them on solar energy, but it’s green anyway) then you get an inverter that is more powerful than the required amount.
An inverter converts DC from the batteries to AC for your electrical appliances to use. If you are going to be powering devices that can use DC directly, then an inverter would not be necessary. The hardware and all other support systems come in kit form that is easy enough for weekend warriors to install (Safety First : Be aware of roof safety, it will surely matter!) and the kit comes with all the necessary accessories and attaching hardware. With small steps, babies become adolescents and then adults, so will the small steps we take that lessen our impact on Mother Earth. Every effort counts, no matter how small it may be. More tips and tricks in the coming posts to make lofts and just about any living space mean and green living spaces.
