Easy Green Retrofits – Helping Mother Nature

solarheatersMother Nature can only take so much and if we had paid attention more to the people called environmentalists of the sixty’s or seventy’s or even nuts, we may not be suffering from the many extreme environmental changes we are now seeing and feeling all over the globe. But, as always, each and every person on earth doing something small can amount to a lot of help for the environment that seems to be on the verge of it’s limits. Simple upgrades from incandescent to CFL’s or even LED lighting helps reduce carbon emissions a lot if all the world’s homes and lofts simply took the time and spent more cash for the simple yet effective retrofit. As discussed with the previous two posts, going off the grid or a more realistic partial conversion is also a good thing, with wind and solar power being free and non-polluting technologies.
Solar heating is also helping save a lot of energy that goes into heating our homes and pools as well and new and breaking geothermal technology that simply uses the heat of the earth’s crust at about 200 to 300 feet which remains constant comfy temperature, all year round. Even a simple chnage of your shower head to a water-saving type can save you a couple of hundred gallons of water each year, the average for a single person in a home being at a hefty 25-gallons a day. Going green is no longer an option, but a must, that is if we wish to remain on this planet for the next hundred years or so!
